This Friday is round 3 of Tribal Warfare- which tribe will take the lead? Will the Heroes come out on top two rounds in a row, or will the Villains steal the lead?
Get along to one80 this Friday and support your tribe (and dress up if you would like to). Don't forget that we're handing out extra points to your tribe for every new students you bring along, so grab ya mates and get ready to dive into the action this Friday, then chill out and enjoy the always entertaining Friday Night Live.

This Friday night is going to be a bit different, because The Watoto Children's Choir are coming to VACC. The choir is made up of orphans from Uganda, who are travelling the world singing and sharing their stories.
The program starts at 7pm and goes till 8.30pm. After this we're going to have some one80 stuff on (games etc). This is an event that involves the whole church, but one80 has taken on the responsibilities of running canteen and parking cars, so if you would like to help us out in either of those, be at VACC at 6.15 ready to go.
We're very privileged to have this group come to VACC, so you're most welcome to invite your family and friends along too. It is a free night, but there will be an opportunity to make donations towards the work of the Watoto Children's Choir.

A flamin' good time

What a great night we had out at Carl's sitting around the fire, I think everyone would agree that it was great fun, and we should do that again. Huge thanks to Carl and his family for letting us use their property, Lesley's mum for making the doughboy dough, Jack for bringing so many marshmallows, and all the parents that helped us drive the one80 crew out there. THANKYOU!

Here's something I though you guys might like to have a look at:

Youth Alive has put together a great show, with Switchfoot playing and the awesome speaker Reggie Dabbs. Click on the pic for the full details. It's Saturday Sept 8th at the Entertainment Centre (Boondall). We haven't got anything from one80 organised, but it will be an awesome night so if anyone wants to go see me or Mike this week and we can try to help you find a way out there. Cyas later!

One80 is back in action

Well after an excellent movie night, which saw the production of some top-class flicks; and after a cruisey weekend atg VACC'sa annual church camp, one80 is ready to kick off again this week.

Have you thought about what it would be like to live in a village? Perhaps you've thought about having to physically work for your food, and to struggle to survive, in a world where you have very little, and must make your way on your own.
Every term at one80 we have a night where we have a look into what life is like for other people in the world, whose lives are so vastly different from our won. This Friday we will be holding a simulation game. The night is free, and all you have to do is rock up at VACC at 7.30pm, ready to play the game.
Cyas there!

Hit The Ground Running

So everybody,
I hear that this Friday night a certain Coopers Plains youth group is kicking off for a new term of fun, awesomeness and good times. This term is a biggie: the annual stayover, a One80 RAID, film making night, new tribes, and hearing all about the kind of life God has planned for each and every one of us.

This Friday is a brand new Tribal Warfare match. You know what that means? It means new tribes to get behind. It means new challenges. It means new funny videos. It means Ben having another new gross dare for ya'all to try and take on. I'm very much looking forward to it.

Any suggestions as to what COULD/SHOULD be done this term at One80? Hit the leaders up with em!

What's on: Tribal Warfare, Round 1
When: Regular time, 7.30 - 10.30
Cost: Free, but remember the TEAR Tin!
Be there! Be square too, it's fun!

Ponybutt.

A Panda Is Relevant Somehow

Well,
I know that I had a great time at the hicktown hoedown last night!! If you went, tell us a humerous story about something that happened over the course of the night. Mine is this: I had two friends along (Amy and Bec, whom I met at SU schoolies last year) and together, they were like Tiph doubled. True story.

Anyhows, this week is the night bushwalk. We're heading off to Elizabeth Street, Woodridge to pay a visit to Karawatha Forest for a bit of a wander into the bush, chat, hangout and to enjoy the beauty of nature at night! We'll be getting there in leader's and parent's cars, so don't worry about that!
It IS an earlier start than usual though!! You must be at VACC and ready to roll at 7pm!! We'll be back by 10pm though.

It costs zero dollars and zero cents! Hooray for free stuff! Bring your own drink in a backpack, and some comfortable walking shoes. A warm jumper is recommended, as is a torch. Seeya's all there kiddies!!

Rock, rock on.
Sean.

-Idea for the night!! Take a flask filled with a hot drink, like hot chocolate or tea or maybe even tomato soup if you are hungry!-

Simulation : Motivation

When you think of Australia, what comes to mind? I think of dropbears, beaches, Antiskeptic and The Ashes. But when I think deeper, some other thigs come to light as well. They include our wealth, our comfort, or basic freedoms and rights. Don't forget that we have a government that aims to provide us with the basic needs of survival, we have access to health care and social services...we have an awful lot.

More than our fair share even?

This week at One80, you'll be challenged about how we ought to regard our possessions, in comparison to what others in the world have, or more often, don't have. Prepare to take a look at what it's like in some of the poorest places on our Earth. You'll learn more about what you can do to make a difference, and what God would have us do for those less blessed than us.

And we're gonna see what's on the cards for when we next crack open ye olde TEAR Tin. Should be tops guys!

See you all there!

Time: 7:30 - 10
Where: VACC
Cost: Free as oxygen, but the TEAR tin will be open, as will the sugar shack.

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

Keep Kickin' It Old School!

It's that time of year again!
It's a new term! Ever wonder what school would be like without One80 to look forward to? Don't. It's a nightmare you may never recover from...*twitches*.

Anyhows, as The Fat so boldly states, this week is an all new outbreak of Tribal Warfare! There will be brand new tribes, brand new games and brand new challenges! If it gets any better than that, it must be infiltration! Following will be FNL, so be sure not to miss it!

Time: 7:30 - 10
Place: The VACC
Cost: Zilch.

BIG NEWS!!!
The TEAR Tin will be open for your generosity and canteen to nurse your sweet tooth post-insane fun time. One80...it's all happening here! Yes, that's right, it's ALL happening here. That includes having fun, making friends and fixing watches.

Seeya's all there!
PB.

Who do you think Jesus is?

Hey guys and girls,
I started reading Colossians the other day and this passage of the bible really stood out to me, Colossians 1:15-23. It says:
15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[
f] your evil behavior. 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

First i'll start with HOW AWESOME IS GOD! Jesus is GOD, doesn't that just sum up all that was said in the first 4 verses???? God has all the power in this world, He has power over kings, He is the head of the Church, He is the creator of everthing in heaven and earth, He is EVERYTHING!!!!

God was happy to let himself live on earth and die for the world. How amazing is that, God being soooo pure coming to earth to die for us, to make peace with us! WOW, that shows just how much He loves us! But even before Jesus came to earth, humans were destined to be away from God, to never experience his love! Can you ever imagine your life without him now???? Doesn't that make you want to thank God so much more???? God (Jesus) died to reconcile humans and Himself, to present us as holy peeps in God's eyes, to be FREE!!!!

Well kids, please leave a sensible comment in the commentie area place, about what you think about the SUPREMACY OF JESUS!!

What is this world coming to? An end!
So are you saved by the son of man??

Have fun!

JUSTINE

RSVP: No need to RSVP, just show up with a smile on your face and a present for me (nah, you don't need to bring a present...but you can if you want...no, now I'm sounding like I really do want you to bring one...well, I won't say that I don't because who doesn't like presents...just forget I said anything...not anything , just the stuff about the presents...mmmmmmmmmmmm....presents...maybe I should just delete this...) If you have any questions give me a call on 3273 1385.

Hope to see you on Thursday.

Here's some pictures to brighten up the holiday "gloom"

Basically, Sean and I got bored, so here's how we're helping other in the same position. Take care, don't talk to too many strangers, and we'll keep you posted on any upcoming holiday events (we'll hit Mike...I mean, hit Mike up with some ideas we got for holiday events, when he gets back)
