The Geeks and up 2-1 over the Nerds, the big question is can the Nerd Herd muster up a win and challenge the mighty Geeks to a tie-breaker showdown?

Movie Night

This Friday night at One80 we are watching a Movie!!! So bring your pillows and blankies, bean bags and teddies (if your Frullet) and get comfy.

This week is round 2 of Tribal Warfare, followed by all the fun of Friday Night Live. The Geeks and the Nerds battle it out again to decide who will be this term's champion tribe. It's gunna be tough, it's gunna be mean, and afterwards canteen will be open.

Scared of the dark?

Be at VACC at 7pm this Friday night, because we're going on a trip...to Toowong Cemetary!
We'll be travelling in leader's cars from the church to the cemetary, where we'll walk together in supervised groups (no silly business). Tonight is night to see something most of us wouldn't normally just go to see, but also to look at death, and what the purpose of our lives are now.

THE AMAZING RACE

If you know how "pit stops", "eliminations", "detours", "fast forward and a guy named Phil all relate, then you'll know what the Amazing Race is all about. if you don't that's ok, because tonight we will be running The Amazing race, one80 Style. this event may involve running, so wear comfy shoes and clothes; and there may possibly be some travelling in leader's cars to nearby homes of church members.
Tonight's fabulous game is absolutely FREE, so cyas there 7pm- 10pm

Big BBQ and Bushdance 2008

Yes it's gunna be the best shin-dig in town this weekend for the combined one80 and young adults Big BBQ and Bushdance.
Tickets cost $15 which covers dinner, dessert, soft drink, tea, coffee and most importantly DANCING!!!! Everyone who came last year had a ball and this year's is guaranteed to be awesome!

So come along in your best dancin gear and get ready to have ripper of a night dancin (and of course, eating)

Sorry guys no one80 on Friday night, but don't fret cos we got a great night lined up on Saturday for yas. If you wanna come to the bushdance and you haven't let Vick or Cassie know, you better ring Vick and ask her, cos places are catered to.

BONFIRE! BONFIRE! BONFIRE!

This Friday is a rather recent one80 Winter tradition, but is fast becoming a favourite, it's the bonfire night at Carl's house.

We'll be spending the evening hanging out around the fire, passing the lollies around, toasting marshmallows, and making dough boys, last year's big hit. We'll also be able to have fun this year with some other activities around the fire, under careful supervision of course.

We'll be meeting at 6.45pm at VACC, and travelling in leader's cars to Carl's house in Prangley St, Bahrs Scrub (the address is on the fat if your parents want to know where it is, or if you wanna google-earth-it).
After we're finished there, we'll travel back to VACC in the same cars, in time for you all to be picked up at 10.30pm.

one80 cookup!

This Friday we are getting the pots and pans out and cooking our own dinner!
We'll be getting into groups and cooking a wide range of different things, then sit down together and have a feast, with starters, a main course, and even dessert. All of this will only set you back $4, so get along to VACC this Friday night.
We're starting at 7pm (half hour earlier) and finishing at the normal time, 10pm.

TERM 3 IS HERE!

Yes, one80 is finally back this Friday night. After you've all had to endure 2 horrible, gruelling weeks of long, hard days, and no one80, we kick off term 3 with new tribes, new games, and all the good ol fun ya love.
So get on down to VACC this Friday night, 7.30-10pm for a whole new term of thrills, spills and good times.

We have a special this week to kick off the term- two get in for the price of one, so bring a friend!

The Decider

Scores are level, 2 all. Which tribe will come out on top?
Can Isthmus prove to be the come-back kid and take out the term? Or will Isola steal victory?
So far we've had: Round 1 (Isola), Round 2 (Isthmus), Round 3 (Isola), Round 4 (Isthmus).
The tribes have been going neck and neck all term, now it's finally time to see which tribe will come out on top.
Tribal Warfare and Friday Night Live runs tonight from 7.30pm-10pm at VACC, and is free. Canteen will be open, and don't forget the Tear Tin! Our goal is to raise enough money for a well, which is a big task, but we can do it.

Destination India

Ever wondered how people in other parts of the world live?
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to live in the UK, America, or maybe somewhere like Fiji or China?
What about India?
Tonight at one80 we'll be playing a simulation game set in India, which is aimed to give us a bit of an idea of what it is like living in an Indian slum. It's a game which will challenge you, but is also going to be a lot of fun.
I dunno what else to say, other then it's free, and that I hope to cyas all there.
It runs at VACC at the normal time 7.30pm-10pm.

We are asking everyone to chip in $2, which is not bad for a movie and snacks.

This Friday night is an old favourite, one80 chill. There's going to be all the good stuff you know like footy, cooking, playstation/xbox; plus some new stuff like guitar hero duels and coffee to warm you up (cappuccinos at good prices). So come along, bring ya mates and hang out at one80 this Friday. We're asking everyone to chip in $3 towards supper (it's normally nachos and cookies, but it could be somethin different, we'll soon find out), and canteen will be open probably all evening.

FRIDAY
In a great annual tradition, which stretches many, many years back, to when half of the one80 leaders were in high school, this Friday night the lights go off and the torches come out for Infiltration!

Come ready to creep and crawl through the dark maze, in search of the loot which will bring your team victory.
Come dressed in clothes you can move around in, and darker colours will be of some assistance (charcoal and dark blues and browns are actually better then black)
Tonight is amazingly free, and the canteen will be open for business (but not during the game)

SATURDAY
If you love coming to one80 and being a part of Village Avenue Community Church, then come along to the working bee at the church on Saturday. It's our chance to get together and do some maintenance on the church- fixing fences, trimming gardens, mowing the lawn, cleaning, fixing...things that are broken....
Anyway, it's also a great opportunity to spend time with other people from the church community, and put back into the church.
I normally starts early, normally around 7.30, but I'd say about 8.30-9am is a good time to arrive. Oh, one other small detail- free morning tea.

SUNDAY
Mike is ready to rip right into another of THE BIG TEN this Sunday night, and tonight he'll be speaking on "The Name Above All Names." Come along at 6pm for some good music and a great chance to catch up with each other and hear more about what God has to say to us.

Round 2

This Friday night the new tribes meet again to do battle. Isthmus may have been defeated last round, but surely their spirit is not crushed. Will they have revenge, or will will Isolar take another win home?

Come along and support your tribe and find out, and afterwards enjoy some light entertainment with Friday Night Live. 7.30-10pm at VACC this Friday night. Don't forget to bring your mates, cos one80 is fun and free. As usual our famous canteen will be open for business, accompanied by the Tear Tin- don't forget about the Tear Tin!
The money we donate together to Tear goes towards helping people in developing countries who are struggling to make a future for themselves. Places like Mozambique, India and Nepal.

Riddle me this, riddle me that

This Friday night it's time to test out your knowledge and team trivia ability, because one80 is proud to present Trivia Night 2008. This isn't going to be some boring trivia night like they play at the bowls club, because our trivia night probably won't contain a whole lot of trivia...but it will be a stack of fun, it's free and all the fun is at VACC this Friday night, 7.30-10pm.

A fat term 2

and now, for something completely different

Yes, at one80 this week, we are going to be talking about sex. We're going to be watching a dvd by an American speaker named Pam Stenzel, called "Sex has a pricetag." The dvd is quite an upfront and confronting look at what God has to say about sex, and what can happen when young people don't follow God's plan for sex (yes, the bible does talk about sex)
We'll then be spending some time discussing some of the issues that are raised in the dvd.

This is going to be a really good night to learn some new things and be challenged about our thoughts on sex, so we really encourage everyone to come along, but we'd like to remind that this Friday night is only for students in HIGH SCHOOL.

The Fat for term 2 will be handed out next week too (and it will be up on this site too, with a link in the side menu), and canteen and the tear tin will be open for business.

If your parents, or you, are concerned about the content of the dvd, then give Mike a ring (his number is on the fat) and he'll be happy to chat about it and answer any questions you might have.

Tribal Warfare wraps up for this term tonight, and it's going to go off with a bang. Can Huka-Pele take the series away with a win tonight? Or can kahakai pull out a win and force a tie-breaker?

After some crazy and exciting times at one80, it's time to chill out and take one80 at your own pace this Friday night. Come on over VACC this Friday night at 7.309pm, where we'll have ps/xbox raging away, games on the grass (soccer, footy cricket etc, plus some new ones) and pamper party on the back deck.

After a break, we're back to kick butt and have fun! There will be new tribes, new people, old people, funny videos, sugar shack and TEAR. There will not be pumas, broken printers or (unfortunately) Evel Knieval. Dang. We tried guys, we really did.
Anyhows,
It's running the regular time of 7:30 till 10:00, it's free (which is the best price), it's at the VACC as always, and of course, it's guaranteed to be a truckload of fun!
Afterwards we'll sit down to Friday Night Live, where you'll hear about the God who loves us and has a plan for us all...a plan we could never even imagine!

We're back baby!

One80 is back this Friday, at the usual time and place, 7.30pm-10pm at Village Avenue Community Church.
Come on down to one80 for a great night catching up after the holidays. We'll be playing some games, screen printing one80 shirts (BYO shirt), hangin out and making and eating our own pizzas!
Yes, that's right, it's your chance for you and your mates to make your own pizza, gourmet or not, and then eat it all up!

We're Not Dead!!

Trust me, we're all still alive out here.
One80 will be kicking off 2008 in a few short weeks, and boy it's gonna be great. Four more terms of that ever-so-sweet craziness that is so prevalent at One80. There's gonna be games, there's gonna be sugar, there's gonna be TEAR, there's gonna be challenges, there's gonna be lots of stuff to learn about yourself, about you friends, and most importantly about God.

As soon as The Fat hits the street, it'll be up here. When you see it, tell your friends. Tell em all to check it out!
