Farewell to our grade 12s

At one80 this Friday night we'll be pulling out our last big games night, followed by Friday Night Live and small groups. As one80 finishes for the year, it also draws to a close the time our grade 12s have as one80 students. On Friday night we'll also be celebrating their time at one80 with some fun stories and photos from over the years (I can promise you there are quite a few embarassing photos of them in grade 8)

We'll be at VACC from 7.30-10pm, cyas then!

Back to Straddie this weekend!

Hey guys, just a last quick note for camp.

On the camp form you circled either Option A or Option B.

Option A- Meet at the church ready to go on Friday morning at 10am. You will need to bring your own lunch, but dinner will be provided.

Option B- Meet at the church ready to go on Friday evening at 6pm. You will either need to eat before you leave home or bring something, because we aren't stopping for dinner. you can buy some food on the barge but it is very expensive.

From the church we will be travelling in leaders' cars to Cleveland to catch the barge over the island. We will then drive about 20km from the barge to the camp site.

After camp you will need to be picked up from the church on sunday afternoon at 4pm. Please ensure someone can pick you up on time.

For a full packing list see your camp form, but here are some commonly forgotten items for you to check you've packed:
- Pillow
- Eating utensils (plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork, spoon & tea towel)
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Water bottle

Plus don't forget lollies.

November 19th- WATER FIGHT!

Summer is just around the corner, so this Friday night at One80 we’re going to welcome the warm weather by having a massive water fight!

The forecast is wet…very wet…then wetter…with a chance of slime…So dress appropriately. Bring a towel or two so you can dry off and have something to sit on for the car trip home.

And to make it even cooler, tonight is free, and the canteen will be open to replenish your energy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to come to One80 Summer Camp next week then this is the last Friday night to get your camp form and money to Vicki. Don’t miss out guys! Chat with Mum and Dad, we would love to have you at camp, and call Mike if the cost is stopping you coming.

Noevmber 12th Games & FNL round 2

It’s our second big games and Friday Night Live night for the term, and as always it’s going to be big and fun. We’ll have games and FNL, followed by a message from God’s word and some time together in small groups.

Tonight is of course free, and the canteen will be open, so bring your mates and show em what One80 is all about!

SUMMER CAMP! WOOOOHHH!

Summer Camp at Straddy is coming up!
Camp is Friday November 26th - Sunday November 28th, 2010 this year (Friday night-Sunday arvo). For more details see the camp form above, which we had to upload in two parts.

Remember that you must have your camp form, filled out on both sides, and your money to Mike or Vick by Sunday November 21st, 2010.

Small group fun!

This weekend is a small group…night…or day…it’s up to you and your small group leaders to decide!

At One80 we’re doing things in our small groups this week, so it could be a Friday night activity, or it could be a Saturday event during the day. What your doing, where your going, how much it will cost and what you’ll need to bring depends on what your small group is doing. Your small group leader will get flyers out to you at least the week before.

Bush Dance weekend

Friday October 22^nd

Tonight there is no normal One80. Instead, we’re setting up for tomorrow night’s…Bush Dance! Please come along if you’re free tonight to help us set up for tomorrow night, it will be a fun, hang out kinda set up (and if you help set up I’m pretty certain you get a discount on your ticket for the bush dance)

Saturday October 23^rd

Tonight One80 is running a bush dance and BBQ for the rest of Village Avenue Community Church and the local community. We’ll be setting up the night, preparing food, cooking, serving food, parking cars, cleaning and packing up…everything! And we need all the help we can get, which includes you! It won’t be all hard work though, you’re welcome to enjoy the meal and the dancing too! (but you don’t have to dance, it’s ok)

Tickets for the night are $15, and all of the profits of the night are going to One80’s Uganda Project. Tickets must be purchased from Vicki, Cassie or Lesley by Monday October 18^th. If you help out with the night, you’re ticket will only be $10, which is pretty good for a feed and a fun night out.

Games Night & FNL

This Friday night we are playing games and having Friday Night Live and Small Groups.  Bring your friends along and introduce them to all the wonderful people that One80 has to offer!

DONT FORGET
Bush Dance is happening next weekend! One80 is running the whole thing for the whole Church, which means that we need your help to set up on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  Jobs will include setting up the hall, making salads etc, cooking a BBQ and washing up, amongst other stuff.  Even though your helping out you still need to purchase a ticket from Vick or Cassie because all the money raised will be going towards the Uganda Project to help an orphanage for disabled kids in Uganda.

The "orange tin" will be out at canteen this Friday night if you would like to donate some extra $$ to this cause.

October 8th Not-Quite Trivia Night

This week at one80 we’ll be back at the church, where we’ll be testing our observation, memory and communication skills. It’s One80’s “Not Quite Trivia Night” a chance for you to show off how much you know about things that don’t really matter!

Special guest, all the way from Uganda

We know it's still school holidays, but this Friday is a special event at Village Avenue Community Church, which will run from 7pm-10pm this Friday night (October 1^st).

The church is being visited by the Watoto Children’s Choir, a group from Uganda.

Many of the young people in the choir have experiences war, murder, disease, poverty, abuse, and the loss of their families, but they have also experienced the change that the love of Jesus has made in their lives. As well as putting on an amazing musical performance, the choir share their powerful life stories which will challenge, encourage and inspire you. The performance is open to everyone in the community- bring your parents and caregivers, your siblings, your grandparents, neighbours and friends. The night is free, however there will be an offering taken if you wish to donate money to the Watoto Orphanages in Uganda. Food and drink will be available to purchase, as well as stalls where you can buy something special to take home from the Watoto choir.

One80 has volunteered to help with parking cars and running the canteen for the evening. We would love for you to help us out, so if you are interested in serving in either of these areas for the evening please be there around 6pm so we can get ourselves ready.

Site Facelift

As the shot on the left reflects, we had many games of pool over the weekend, and it was cool shots like this that inspired the new banner on this site. The site is now looking Wintery fresh and fantastic, jump on facebook and let us know your thoughts on the new look, and any ideas you have for Spring and Summer. I've also updated the music player a bit.

Winter Camp 2010 Highlights

We had an awesome time over the weekend at Winter Camp. I thought I'd put up a few photo favourites, but if you want to see all of them (about 105 photos) from camp you can join us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/one80ym.

For those of you who missed out, here's hoping you can come to Summer Camp in November (yes, it will probably be at Straddy, but I can't be sure). Some of the highlights of Winter Camp at Glengarry included archery with Billy and Carl, eating chocolate brownies, canoeing on the dam, sitting up till 2am watching the Socceroos, plus all the foosbsall, pool, and trampolining possible.
Here's to a good camp, and hopefully we'll be back at Glengarry next year.

Friday night
Hey guys, I know this post is a bit late in the week, and I'm sorry we've been missing posts, but here's a quick note to remind you that this Fridat (4th) you will be doing something with your small group. Your small group leader will have something organised- some groups will be doing stuff at church, others will be at leader's houses, one group is going on a night bushwalk, one is going iceskating.

These are great fun because it gives you and your mates a chance to hang out together and some stuff we can't normally do at one80 with larger groups.

If you don't know where your group will be, what time you need to be there, or what you'll need, call your small group leader, or call Mike today and he'll be able to let you know.

Saturday
COMMANDO GAMES! YEAH!
Yes, it's here, that wonderful Saturday of every year when we dress in army gear and crash around Karrawatha forest, chasing and tackling each other.

We're meeting at 10am at the end of Elizabeth St, Woodridge (next to the scout den). If you have some camoflague gear, or clothes that will help you blend into the bush, wear them (think greens and browns), but otherwise there's plenty of gear to borrow, just be sure to bring a belt if you plan on borrowing pants.
You need to definately wear good sturdy shoes and long pants, and consider wearing long sleeves and a hat too. You will need at least 2L of water, and lunch to eat in the forest (think lollies, muesli bars etc)

Chair Rally

This friday we will be walking around the local streets making jolly fools of ourselves!  It's called a Chair Rally, fastest around the track wins!

Make sure you wear comfy shoes because you will be walking a K or two.

All teams will have a leader with them at all times so rest asured your shouldn't get lost! Unless your with me and we have a GPS......

Be sure to disguise yourself as the night (wear black from head to toe) so that you don't become the prey of a One80 Leader! 

Please wear comfortable shoes because you will be running around. And we don't want anyone to loose a toe, or three.

This Friday is FLURO night! All of the leaders are very excited and we hope you are too! Get on your fluro gear and come and play some awesome games in our own One80 made glow world!  There will be face painting before the games to help you get to maximum fluro-ige so come nice and early!

Movie Night and One80 Raid

Is movie night.  I'm pretty sure there will be some amount of Pop Corn, bring a pillow or bean bag to sit on.

Saturday
Is One80 Raid! We are heading to Billy's house to tidy up his family's yard.  Bring some gardening gloves, a hat, wear covered shoes and be ready to work really hard!  One80 will be providing lunch.

This is a really fun day to get to know each other really well, whilst serving someone else.

Tonight we are doing lots of DIY stuff! For example, beading, stenciling, card making, funky braclets, record bowls, and some more!

If you want to do stenciling bring a shirt, or peice of clothing.

Don't forget to bring your friends!

Black and White Night!

Hi Everyone! Long time no blog! 

You will not be dissapointed this Friday night!  We are having a Black and White themed games night, and oh boy! there are some exciting things planned!  Bring your mates along, dress in 'Black and White' stuff, have some fun and hear some truth about God.

Make sure you bring your wet and wild form and money for Vicki, as they must be in by Sunday!

Also make sure you know what your Small Group is doing next Friday, or you might turn up at the wrong place!
